The wrath of Cyran in November 2023

2 March 2024

We took a break at the end of October after closing time, away from the campsite, to think about other things with our friends…

AND THEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS THE STORM! Cyran’s wrath didn’t spare us.

A hasty return to the campsite from the other side of France. We arrived on 2 November to see the extent of the damage.

The campsite is a bit damaged, which is a bit sad, but it’s not devastated either.

A lot of trees were shaken, especially in our high cypress trees, a few pines fell, some fences were torn down…

And above all, the big chalet, decapitated! It was violent. The roof completely blown off, leaving all the accommodation in the open air; we joke about this new concept…

Debris from the crash of a chalet in the neighbour’s field…. But the material damage is quickly put into perspective. In the end, one damaged rental unit out of ten wasn’t so bad; even the little trekking tents held up (Paul took the initiative before we left and reinforced their moorings with straps; Paul learns fast).

Of course, this meant a lot of work! Cleaning, lumbering (including high-level work with a cherry picker), shredding, storage, and administrative management with the insurance company and suppliers. But we’re keeping our spirits up. I’d like to say a big thank you for all the messages of support we received during this period.

Today, everything is back to normal as far as the landscape is concerned. The small repairs still need to be done, and above all the big chalet needs to be rebuilt. Very soon.

And the adventure with new projects on the campsite continues happily. We’d like things to go faster, we have to be patient… but time flies!

At the moment, we’re building a brand new canvas and wood tent-lodge.

We’ll call it the canvas island, or maybe not…?

We’re happy, and it’s all thanks to you!

Once again, thank you to our customers for their kindness, their smiles and their encouragement; thank you for coming to the 1st season with the magical flavour of first times, but also for coming to the second season with its often warm reunions!

And welcome to the third season 2024. I’m ordering a storm of sunshine in Brittany (well, just normal Breton weather, if that’s still possible). In any case, may the sweetness and joie de vivre of the white wolf warm our hearts.
